Frequently Asked Questions
When and how often will you visit my cat?
The frequency and timing of visits to your cat while you are away will depend on the specific arrangements made as part of your booking. Typically, the visit schedules are tailored to suit your cat's needs, ensuring their care and comfort throughout your absence. If you have particular requirements for visit frequency or timing, please let the service provider know, and they will accommodate them accordingly. We will visit your cat once or twice per day. If you have booked two visits daily, we will visit once in the AM and again in the PM.
Please note: We have to visit your cat at least once every day and cannot under any circumstances visit every other day.
How long will you spend with my cat?
Each visit will typically last between 25-30 minutes. This duration allows ample time to provide your cat with all the necessary care as outlined in the plan, as well as sufficient time for play and companionship.
What services do you provide during a visit?
Every visit will consist of feeding, replenishment of water, cleaning of litter tray, grooming (if required) and playtime and cuddles! We will maintain the environment and clean up any accidents/spillages that may have occurred. Companionship and playtime are included as part of the at-home cat sitting service. The team engages your cat in playtime and offers cuddles during visits, respecting your cat's boundaries if they are not playful. Their goal is to ensure your cat feels cared for and comfortable while you are away.
Any other tasks that we have agreed to do at your property will be taken care of too.
Can you give my cat medication?
Yes, I can administer oral, topical and injectable medications provided they are in their original packaging with clear instructions.
Can you look after any other pets?
We can also provide care for other small animals you may have at home - rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils and birds to name but a few! If you have other pets that require to be looked after, this can be discussed at our initial meeting.
What happens if there is an emergency while I am away?
If your cat becomes unwell when you are away, we will contact you immediately. We will take your cat to its own vet (or nearest emergency clinic if out of hours) depending on the situation. If we have to seek veterinary care for your cat, we will pay the vet on your behalf - we just ask that reimbursment of this is made as soon as possible upon your return. There will be no charge for our time spent taking your kitty for medical treatment.
Are you insured?
We hold full pet sitting insurance and have Disclosure Scotland certification for your peace of mind.
Do you offer a meet-and-greet?
Yes, we offer a meet and greet prior to your booking commencing to ensure everything is tailored to your needs. This allows us to get acquainted with both you and your cat, understand their routine, and address any specific instructions you may have. This will allow your cat the chance to get used to us and become familiar with our scent to make our first visit easier. During this session, we will also discuss any additional services you require, such as plant care or mail collection, ensuring every detail is covered for your peace of mind.
Should I leave my cat flap open?
This is entirely up to you. It will depend on your cat's routine and safety. If your cat is accustomed to using the cat flap and can safely go outside without risk, it could be left open. On the other hand, if there are concerns about your cat’s wellbeing or the security of your home, it might be better to keep the cat indoors to ensure we are able to see the cat and ensure their wellbeing at each visit. We want to try and keep as much normality for your cat as possible so not being able to come and go as they please might cause issues. This is ultimately your decision and we will work around whatever you decide to do.
What happens if I am delayed getting back from my trip?
If you are unexpectedly delayed in returning home from your trip, just contact us as soon as you can. We will extend your booking and continue to provide visits to your cat as before until we can safely hand their care back over to you. Please do not worry about the wellbeing of your cat, we will ensure they have everything they need until you return.
What security precautions will you take?
We take the security of your home as seriously as the care of your cat. Our team follows strict protocols to ensure your property remains safe during your absence. This includes securely storing any house keys provided, locking all doors and windows after each visit, and maintaining discretion to ensure your home does not appear vacant. Additionally, we respect your privacy and only access the areas necessary for your cat’s care. Rest assured, your peace of mind is our priority while you’re away.
What if there are problems with keys/locks or alarms etc?
If we encounter any issues with keys, alarms, or locks while caring for your cat at home, we will contact you immediately to resolve the situation. In the event you are unreachable, we will follow any instructions you have provided in advance or take appropriate action to ensure your home remains secure.
